At Beorht, we meticulously select our tannery partners based on their commitment to superior ethical and environmental standards.
Our suppliers adhere to the ETI Base Code, an internationally recognized framework that sets forth essential labour standards to ensure ethical and fair practices in the workplace. This code of ethics embodies our commitment to social responsibility and governs key areas of labour rights such as fair compensation, safe working conditions, prohibition of child labour and reasonable working hours. By adhering to the ETI Base Code, our suppliers not only comply with ethical labor standards but also contribute to the broader goals of social responsibility and sustainability.

We prioritise sustainability by collaborating with tanneries that receive leather redirected from food producers, transforming what would otherwise be waste into beautiful, high-quality products. This process not only minimises waste but also breathes new life into materials that would have otherwise contributed to environmental harm. Through this recycling initiative, Beorht champions a circular approach to fashion, enabling us to create stylish and durable pieces while reducing our ecological footprint.
At Beorht, we understand the importance of the tanning process in the leather industry, which transforms raw hides into high-quality leather. While we have opted for chrome tanning—known for its durability and resilience—we also prioritize environmental responsibility in our operations. To achieve this, we partner with suppliers who meet stringent environmental standards. Our collaboration focuses on Spanish tanneries that have earned the Leather Working Group (LWG) rating. This certification reflects their commitment to sustainable practices, including effective chemical management, responsible water and energy usage, waste disposal, and traceability.

Beorht is dedicated to maximising the reuse of leather scraps, ensuring that every piece of material is utilised to its fullest potential. Any remaining off-cuts are skillfully transformed into small leather accessories that complement our handbags. This approach not only minimises waste but also adds a unique touch to our collections, allowing us to create stylish, functional items that embody our commitment to sustainability. By repurposing these leather scraps, we celebrate the craftsmanship involved in our production process while contributing to a more environmentally responsible fashion industry.

We have chosen to use 100% brass hardware for two primary reasons: first, its exceptional quality; and second, its status as one of the most sustainable materials available. Brass shares the exemplary properties of copper, which are being fully recyclable and not releasing environmentally harmful substances.
Our hardware production takes place in Italy, within a company dedicated to the continuous improvement of its technologies and processes. This commitment ensures outstanding solutions regarding quality, sustainability, and energy efficiency. One notable initiative includes the reuse of burrs and shavings generated during the manufacturing process, transforming them into new semi-finished products and thus establishing a potentially endless cycle of sustainability.

At Beorht, we take great care in selecting every element of our packaging and printed materials to ensure sustainability and environmental responsibility. Our boxes are fully recyclable, and our silk paper, tags, stickers and cards are crafted from 100% recycled materials. We meticulously evaluate the sourcing and manufacturing processes of these components, prioritizing materials that minimize environmental impact and promote a circular economy.
